Purpose

Built to keep the weather out and to work.

The oil cloth shell holds off rain and cuts the wind. The lining sits between you and the wax, so it doesn’t transfer onto your under-layers.

It’s a work jacket. Made to be worn, used, and put through it.

There’s something in it that points backwards a bit. Not necessarily better, just a way that existed before.

Notes

This one feels like it comes from somewhere else.

It does well in the dark and the wet. Cold and wet too. It gives you a kind of rough comfort — not clean, not polished — but something that sits with you. Something that almost feels like belonging, even if you can’t quite place it.

It’s not new. It just feels forgotten.

There’s a stitched sunrise on the back of the collar. Done by hand. Not perfect — far from it — but that’s kind of the point. It reminds me of old navy pieces, liberty cuffs, things that carried something hidden in them.

It tells a story. Maybe one you know, maybe one you don’t. But it’s there.
